Ok people I have a mini pupillage coming up and was hoping that some of you could give me some advice or insight into what I can expect and what is expected of me.

well it depends on where you go. if they have said it's an 'assessed' mini p then they might get you reading some stuff, and maybe draft something (but they'll show you how, don't worry). Most, though, will just introduce you to one of their barristers and you go to court with them for the day. If you're lucky, they'll let you sit with them, but often you'll be in the gallery. I actually spent a lot of time on mine, chatting to the police officers and court staff - which is really invaluable as it's good to know where they are coming from too.

again, depends on where you are, but some of mine then took me out for a drink afterwards, and others just said bye and went home! But you should see some interesting cases.

To get the most out of it, talk to EVERYBODY you meet. Obviously, be careful what you say, especially if they are the client or opponent of your barrister, but even court canteen staff can be a really interesting source of info about what working in that environment is really like!

Just remember to keep everthing confidential! At the same time, do let us know how you get on!

If you want any more info about the bar / training to be a barrister, drop me a comment in my lj.

Good luck and have fun!
